NFL Notes: NFL Draft, 49ers, Cardinals, Chiefs, & Seahawks

NFL Draft

  • Peter King believes the Buccaneers would either take Oregon QB Marcus Mariota at No. 1 overall or trade the selection for a ransom to a quarterback-needy team.
  • According to King, the Titans would likely take Mariota as well.
  • King expects the Jaguars to field offers for their first-round pick, which is currently the No. 3 overall selection.

49ers

  • OLB Ahmad Brooks was benched after he missed a defensive meeting on Tuesday.

“There was a meeting earlier in the week, yes, defensive meeting,” HC Jim Harbaugh said, via the Associated Press. “And other guys had a better week. He was in a backup role today.

Cardinals

Chiefs

  • RB Jamaal Charles told reporters after Sunday’s game that he was initially worried that he tore ligaments in his knee during Sunday’s game.

“It was scary at first,’’ Charles said, via Adam Teicher. “I thought I tore my knee up.

“I just got twisted up. Everything got twisted up.’’

Charles wound up having just a sprained ankle and was able to finish Week 14’s game against the Cardinals.

Seahawks

  • Peter King of MMQB.com writes that Seahawks DC Dan Quinnwill be on every head-coach-needy team’s homework list in the next month.”
