NFL Notes: Patrick Mahomes, Draft, Rams, Texans

Patrick Mahomes

• An NFL coach tells Tom Pelissero that Texans HC Bill O’Brien “absolutely loves” Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes.
• In fact, based on the conversations he’s had, Pelissero wound up being one of the first two quarterbacks taken.
• Mahomes is reportedly visiting with the Texans today. (NFLTR)
• According to Peter King, the Cardinals “love” Mahomes.

Draft

• According to Peter King, the 49ers, Bears, and Jets are all looking to trade back at the top of round one. If there’s one team to watch in regards to moving up the draft board, King believes it’s the Browns at No. 12 overall.
• King believes the Browns want to come away with either Mitch Trubisky or Patrick Mahomes in this year’s draft.

• Jason La Canfora is hearing “very strong buzz” that long-time Ravens scout/executive Joe Hortiz is top choice become the Rams’ new college scouting director after the draft.

Texans

Texans QB Tom Savage told reporters on Monday that he has “a lot” to prove this year.

“I have a lot to go out there and prove and this will be a heck of an opportunity. I’m pumped. Going to be fun,” Savage said. “I’m going out there to play for everyone in that locker room and everybody that believes in me.“
