NFL Notes: Sam Bradford, Adrian Peterson, Buccaneers, & Cardinals

Sam Bradford

Eagles QB Sam Bradford released a statement via Adam Schefter regarding his decision to return to the team.

“I’m excited to be back on the field today with my teammates and coaches. The business-side of football is sometimes a necessary consideration. My attention and efforts are focused on the participation in and preparation for a championship season: I am committed to my teammates and the Eagles organization for nothing less.”

Adrian Peterson

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said he believes he can play until he’s 40, but isn’t sure if he’ll mentally be willing to play once he gets to 38.

“I can, but will I? Honestly, I don’t think I will,” Peterson tells Peter King. “Mentally, I don’t know. Once I get to 38, I don’t think I’ll have the same love of the game. Sometimes I get tired of training camp. I think I can endure five more [camps], but after that, I don’t know.”

Peterson added that he believes the Vikings have a “good chance” to win it all this year.

We are going to have a good chance to win it this year—win everything,” Peterson said. “Sit back and watch. Sit back and watch. You can be like, ‘I thought you guys were at least a couple of years away.’ Nope. You sit back and watch, this year.”

Buccaneers

  • The Buccaneers have signed LB Micah Awe, OL Kelby Johnson and WR Andre Davis after they tried out for the team this past weekend. (Greg Auman)
  • Greg Auman adds that the Buccaneers have also signed DT Travis Britz.
  • As for players being cut, Auman lists TE Tim Brown and DT Jontavius Morris.

Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals have brought in former QB Byron Leftwich as a coaching intern.

“I love the game,” Leftwich said, via AzCardinals.com. “This is just the next transition from player to coach and (Arians) allowed me to come down and be a part of it. I’ll take advantage of it, and we’ll see.

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians said they’ll see where Leftwich is after training camp, but added he has a “bright future in coaching.

“After that, we’ll see,” Arians said. “Hopefully I can keep him all year. I think he’s got a great, bright future in coaching.”
