NFL Notes: Steve Smith, Bills, Chargers, & Cowboys

Steve Smith

Ravens WR Steve Smith said heโ€™d quite if he traded to another team before the upcoming deadline.

โ€œIf they traded me, Iโ€™d quit today,โ€ Smith said, via Ravens.com. โ€œI like to finish what I started.โ€

Smith said their focus remains on fixing their current issues, rather than playing for another team.

โ€œWeโ€™re trying to fix all the damn holes in this boat right now. Thatโ€™s what weโ€™re focusing on,โ€ Smith said. โ€œOur focus is on Arizona.โ€

Bills

Sources tell Jason Cole of B/R that the only reason Percy Harvin isnโ€™t in London with the Bills is due to his hip and knee ailments.

Regarding the report that Harvin is contemplating retirement, Coleโ€™s sources have said โ€œthatโ€™s simple not true.โ€ Harvin is admittedly frustrated about his injuries, but he intends to play again once heโ€™s healthy.

Cole mentions that some of this talk can be attributed to the fact that the Bills have listed the reason for him being away from the team as โ€œpersonal reasonsโ€ instead of something injury related. With this in mind, Cole believes this could ultimately result in some form of a standout between the team and Harvin.

Chargers

Chargers TE Antonio Gates is dealing with a sprained MCL and will be a game-time decision for Sundayโ€™s game against the Raiders.

โ€œItโ€™s something Iโ€™m not accustomed to dealing with,โ€ Gates said Friday, via Michael Gehlken of the Union-Tribune San Diego. โ€œIโ€™ve always heard about people with knee situations. Now, Iโ€™m dealing with one.โ€

Cowboys

Cowboys RB Christine Michael admitted that heโ€™s unsure of what his role will be in Sundayโ€™s game.

โ€œIโ€™m just as clueless as you are,โ€ Michael said, via Dallas Morning News. โ€œThose guys did say Iโ€™m going to get a little bit more carries, but weโ€™ll see.

โ€œIโ€™m just going to help to do my part. Whatever that bigger part consists of, Iโ€™m going to just do what I have to do.โ€

  • Cowboys WR Dez Bryant did not travel with the team today, and is instead resting at home.
  • However, Charean Williams admits Bryant could make trip tomorrow.
