Certainly, one of the biggest drawbacks about starting a site called NFL Trade Rumors was the fact that there really isn’t a lot of trades in the NFL. Well, the NFL did their best to help rectify that when they voted to move the trade deadline back, from Week 6 to Week 8 of the regular season.
The new rule will go intoย effect starting this season, which should make for a much more interesting deadline, now that teams can mortgage their future to pursue a Super Bowl run.
Guys like Kyle Orton would almost certainly have been traded last year, had the deadline not be set for Week 6. It really doesn’t make sense for a team to give up on someone when only six games have been played. We’re certainly hopeful that there will be plenty of trade rumors to cover this year.
