NFL Rumors: Colt McCoy Starting For The Browns In 2011?

Cleveland Browns president Mike Holmgren made some comments earlier in the week that would suggest that Colt McCoy has more than a good chance to be teams starting quarterback in 2011.

“I hired Pat [Shumur] because I think we have a good young quarterback,” Holmgren said, “and I wanted an offensive-minded head coach. It pretty much boiled down to that.”

McCoy showed promise during his rookie year but didn’t exactly put up the most amazing stats during this time. The good news is that McCoy has the potential to develop into a good quarterback but that will have a lot to do with Shumur’s and Holmgrens ability to do so.

The Browns will have to address their other quarterbacks during the offseason. Delhomme is under contract for $5.4 million which is definitely more than he’s worth.  Seneca Wallace is also free agent so a decision will have to made regarding who will fill out the teams remaining quarterback spot.
