SI’s Tony Pauline reports that at least six NFL teams have Cam Newton listed as the top quarterback in the upcoming draft. Pauline goes on the explain that these teams have Newton listed higher on their draft boards than Da’Quan Bowers, Nick Fairley, Marcell Dareus, and Blaine Gabbert which comes as a bit of a surprise considering that many experts see the other players as some of the best talent in the draft.
The one team that Pauline names as having interest in Cam Newton is the Miami Dolphins. Dolphins are reported to have been “inquiring heavily” into Newton.
Miami has the No. 15 overall pick in the 2011 draft which seems like a bit out of range for Newton if Pauline’s report proves to be accurate. There are a number of teams ahead of Miami that are in need of a quarterback so the Dolphins may consider trading up get him if they remain interested in him.
