NFL Rumors: Jeremy Shockey In Miami?

Roberto Yanes of Finheaven.com directed us towards some information provided by Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel. Kelly mentions that the Miami Dolphins are believed to be the team that brought Jeremy Shockey in for a physical and added that Dan Campbell, the Dolphins TE coach, played with Jeremy Shockey while  in New York.

This news has been confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Now that Jeremy Shockey is a free agent, he’ll have a little over one week to sign on with a new team before the impending lockout takes place. Despite his mileage and age there have been a few teams linked to Shockey as possible options for him. Shockey recently mentioned that he has passed a physical, via Facebook, but didn’t disclose what team it was for.

Tennessee Titans

Titan Insider’s Terry McCormick reported that Tennessee is meeting with a player rep for Jeremy Shockey to discuss a possible deal. It appears that the Titans will not re-sign Bo Scaife so bring in a tight end seems to be on their to-do list.

Jim Wyatt has since reported that Titans head coach Mike Munchak has stated that the team has had no “talks with the agent for Jeremy Shockey and said there are no plans to do so.”

Miami Dolphins

During an appearance on the the “Joe Rose Show” on WQAM, Drew Rosenhaus mentioned that Shockey would be very interested in joining the Miami Dolphins. Shockey’s connection to Miami comes from his collegiate days at the University of Miami.

Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald reports that the team has had no contact with Shockey as of now.

Other speculative options would include the Buffalo Bills and the Denver Broncos but as of now there hasn’t been anything definitely connecting them to Shockey.
