NFL Rumors: Odell Beckham Jr, Browns, Antonio Brown

Odell Beckham Jr.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that it would take a “high price” to acquire Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr.

La Canfora says that the Browns, Raiders, and 49ers are the three teams “most connected” to Beckham.

โ€œCleveland, Oakland and San Francisco are the teams Iโ€™ve heard most connected to Odell Beckham Jr,” said La Canfora, via CBS Sports Network

Browns

Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Media mentioned during an interview with 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland that the Browns offered the Giants G Kevin Zeitler, DE Emmanuel Ogbah and an unnamed player for WR Odell Beckham Jr.

However, a high-level Giants source told her they laughed at the offer.

Kinkhabwala said she “wouldn’t feel confident” describing the trade rumors involving Beckham as serious right now.

“I wouldn’t feel confident describing them (the rumors) as serious,” Kinkhabwala said. “I think it’s the time of year where there are lots and lots and lots of conversations.

Antonio Brown

  • Tom Pelissero reports that Raiders HC Jon Gruden would “love” to trade for Antonio Brown but is reluctant to give him a new contract that includes more guaranteed money.
  • Ian Rapoport mentions that the Steelers are still trying to get a first-round pick for Brown, but teams believe that’s too steep for them. Rapoport wonders if the Raiders parting with a late-first or early-second could be eventually where this ends up.
  • Jerry McDonald of the Mercury News writes that while there is some interest from the Raiders in trading for Brown, itโ€™s not enough for them to alter their financial structure for a short-term gain when they’re focused on the long term and Pittsburgh is asking too much for him.

  1. Hey Aditi Kinky! I have been saying Beckham to the Browns since last season. I have Beckham going to the Brownies, for the Brownies’ 2019 1st, 3rd and the rights to WR Antonio Callaway. Beckham reunites with his college buddy Landry and their college position coach in Cleveland.

The Brownies’ trade that was proposed on 92.3 FAN, of Zeitler, Ogbah and a third unnamed player for Beckham will NOT happen. For Beckham alone it has to be picks and a player.

How about Beckham and Vernon to the Brownies for their 2019 1st, 3rd and the rights to Callaway and Zeitler? Ogbah never lived up to his billing a couple of years ago.

The Raiders are not an option for Beckham because of the money alone. I believe the $95m for 5yrs. starts in 2019. I don’t see Chucky dumping loads of cash to a WR. The Raiders have other areas of major need, specifically on defense.

The 49ers were another team I had Beckham traded to last season as well. The 49ers just picked up Pierre Garcon’s option. With the 2019 DRAFT loaded with wide receivers, I do not see the urgency of Beckham going to the 49ers.

Don’t be surprised if the Patriots become the winners of “The Beckham Trade Drama”. It makes sense in all areas for the Pats and GMEN.

The GMEN move on from Beckham, his contract and all his drama. While sending Beckham out of the NFC all together, just like a Brownies trade would do. The Pats on the other hand have an abundance of 3rd rounders in the 2019 DRAFT, which the GMEN do not have any. The GMEN 2019 3rd rounder was used on CB Sam Beal. Plus! The Pats have their own 2019 1st rounder (32nd).

The Pats could give up their 2019 1st rounder, one of their higher 3rd rounders and a 2020 1st rounder. This move would give the GMEN 2 first round picks in the 2019 and 2020 DRAFTS as well as recouping a much needed 2019 3rd rounder.

Remember! Beckham is not worth 2 high picks in the same draft. One is Beckham’s contract and the second obvious reason is that Beckham has missed 21 games in 5 seasons all with leg injuries.

And Belichick knows how to quiet the noise that comes with diva receivers. Look at how Belichick dealt with Randy Moss and Chad OCHOCINCO Johnson.
