NFL Rumors: Panthers Not Supporters Of Jimmy Clausen?

SIโ€™s Don Banks writes that Jimmy Clausen is lacking support from anyone other than GMย Marty Hurney.

โ€œDonโ€™t think this is really news, but Carolina general manager Marty Hurney is said to beย the only one in the building in Charlotte who still believes 2010 second-round pick Jimmy Clausen might be up to the task of handling the Panthers starting job,โ€ SIโ€™s Don Banks wrote on Thursday.

Banks continues by writing thatย โ€œeveryone else in Carolina, and many coaches and personnel men around the league for that matter, thinks the Panthers have to draft a franchise quarterback this year.โ€

Interestingly enough, Hurney may be falling out of favor in Carolina since he recently moved the teams second-round pick in this years draft so that they could takeย Armanti Edwards last year. Two wasted draft picks on top of a 2-14 season that was as miserable as it looks on paper could be enough for the Panthers to consider a change.
