NFL Rumors: Ronnie Brown, Reggie Nelson, Dan Conner

Ronnie Brown

Rich Cimini of ESPN New York reports that New York Jets are interested in signing RB Ronnie Brown.

Browns is coming off of a terrible season that was highlighted by an embarassing decision to try to throw the ball while being tackled in the middle of a pile, only to have it ruled a fumble.

He’ll be a very cheap option for the Jets but it’s hard to assume that he’ll even be as productive as LaDainian Tomlinson was for them which is pretty bad.

Reggie Nelson

The Miami Herald writes that the Dolphis are “searching for an upgrade at free safety” and specifically mentions Bengals FS Reggie Nelson as a possible target for the team.

The Dolphins have brought in former Bengals DB’s Kevin Coyle to run their defense so there’s an obvious connection there. Nelson’s also from Florida so it seems to make sense.

Dan Conner

The Delaware News Journal reports that “several league sources” believe that the Phildelphia Eagles have interest in Panthers ILB Dan Connor.

The report also mentions that the Eagles approached Carolina about a possible trade for Conner last season.

There’s little doubt that he would be an upgrade to the 2011 group of inside linebackers that they were using. Stephen Tulloch has been consistently linked to the Eagles but Conner could end up being a more cost-efficient option for the team.
