ESPN’s Todd McShay predicts that Ryan Mallett will be taken by the Oakland Raiders with the No. 48 overall pick. This idea was seconded by ESPN’s AFC West blogger Bill Williamson who sees it as a possibility.
“I have to say, if Mallett falls, he could be a possibility for Oakland. Quarterback isn’t the Raiders’ most pressing need, but he would be a nice long-term prospect and a good value at No. 48.”
Williamson makes a good point that quarterback isn’t necessarily the teams biggest need but it would end up being a good value pick if they thought that Mallett could be their quarterback of the future.
Mel Kiper has the Seattle Seahawks taking Mallett at No. 57 overall.
Other speculation has tied Mallett to the Bengals and possibly the Dolphins depending on how far he falls in the draft.
