The latest news surrounding Vincent Jackson suggested that he is open to a long term contact with the San Diego Chargers despite all of the drama thatย occurred this season. There has also been a report that suggested that the Chargers could even franchise Jackson if the new CBA allows for it.
Interestingly enough, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune pointed out that Jackson signed his tender with the understanding that the team would not place the franchise tag on him at the end of the year. If the Chargers do elect to franchise him they could be undermining any chance of signing him long term but then again that idea has never seemed to be a priority of A.J. Smith.
Jackson has been able to prove his value while playing in only a couple games this season. Teams will be interested in Jackson during the offseason but it will be interesting to see how the Chargers handle the situation moving forward considering everything that has already occurred in the last year.
