The NFL and New Orleans Saints suspended head coach Sean Payton’s agent are hammering out an agreement that will allow Payton to negotiate a contract extension with the Saints, per Adam Schefter.
“I will make this comment: This team loves Sean. Sean loves this team. This city loves Sean. And Sean loves this city. So I think that’s a tough combination to beat,” said interim head coach Joe Vitt, via the Shreveport Times.
Payton already has a Super Bowl championship in New Orleans and getting the coach to stay in New Orleans is high on the team’s offseason priority list. There’s been a lot of speculation that the Cowboys could have interest in Payton if he were to become available, but from every indication, the Saints intend on preventing that from even being a possibility.
