Adam Schefter of ESPN, citing league sources, reports that the Dom Capers is not expected to return as the Packers’ defensive coordinator for the 2018 season.
Capers has come under a great deal of criticism the past few years for the lack of production from the team’s defense, despite the fact that their offense has been among the best in the NFL.
The Packers rarely make major changes to their organization or coaching staff, so this would qualify as a big move for Green Bay.
One name mentioned in connection to the Packers is current Bears DC Vic Fangio.
Capers, 67, has worked for a number of teams of his NFL career including two head coaching stints with the Panthers and Texans. The Packers hired him as their defensive coordinator in 2009 and he has spent the past nine seasons in Green Bay in charge of their defense.
Capers produced just one top-10 defense and that happened to be the year they won the Super Bowl.
