Packers Have Made RB Ty Montgomery Available For Trade

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Packers have made RB Ty Montgomery available for trade before today’s deadline.

According to Rapoport, Montgomery has been drawing interest from teams.

This comes after Montgomery reportedly defied orders from Packers coaches to take a knee in the end zone last Sunday. Montgomery made the decision to return the kick and ultimately fumbled the ball, which led to the Rams running out the clock.

After the game, some of Montgomery’s teammates anonymously criticized him for his decision to return the kick.

Montgomery, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Packers back in 2015. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2.949 million contract and set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season.

Montgomery will be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2018, Montgomery has appeared in seven games for the Packers and rushed for 105 yards on 26 carries (4 YPC) to go along with 15 receptions for 170 yards receiving and one total touchdown. He has also contributed 210 kick return yards.
