Adam Schefter reports that the Packers are waiving S Josh Jones on Sunday.
Jones confirmed his release via his Twitter account:
Itโs been real Green Bay. The Packers just informed me of my release
— J. Jones (@JoshJones11_) August 25, 2019
Jones had previously requested to be traded, but it appears as though there was no deal to be made for Green Bay.
Jones, 24, was a second-round pick by the Packers out of North Carolina State in 2017. He’s entering the third year of a four-year, $4.2 million deal and is slated to make base salaries of $849,856 and $1,042,284 the next two seasons.
In 2018, Jones appeared in 13 games for the Packers, recording 55 total tackles, one sack, no interceptions and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 70 safety out of 93 qualifying players.
