Panthers Activating WR Damiere Byrd From Injured Reserve

The Carolina Panthers are officially activating WR Damiere Byrd from injured reserve on Friday, according to HC Ron Rivera, per Joe Person.

Byrd will take Charles Johnson‘s roster spot after he was suspended for four games earlier in the day.

Byrd, 24, wound up signing on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of South Carolina back in 2015. Since then Byrd has been on and off of their active roster.

The Panthers placed him on injured reserve with a fractured forearm a few months ago. Carolina officially designated him to return from injured reserve a few weeks ago.

In 2017, Byrd has appeared in four games and rushed for 12 yards on one carry but has yet to catch a pass. He has nine punt return yards.
