Horton, 30, signed on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out USC back in 2013. He was in the final year of his three-year, $1.485 million rookie contract when the Panthers cut him loose during the 2015 season before bringing him back soon after.
Horton returned to Carolina on a two-year contract before signing on with the Saints last May. New Orleans released him at the start of the season and he eventually returned to Carolina in November.
Horton was in line to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
For his career, Horton recorded 96 tackles, 15.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, two recoveries and two passes defended over the course of 83 games and seven seasons.
