Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic is “hearing” that former Cardinals free agent CB Antoine Cason will sign with the Carolina Panthers “soon.”
- Joe Person confirms that Cason is visiting with the Panthers Wednesday.
- Adam Caplan of ESPN notes that Cason has been on the Panthers radar for “several weeks” and fits their defensive scheme.
Cason, 27, played sparingly for Arizona last year, but appeared in every game the previous five seasons with San Diego.
This move would reunite Cason with Panthers Head Coach and former Chargers Defensive Coordinator Ron Rivera.
Despite Cason’s struggles last year, he is still relatively young and has substantial experience. He also could bring value to the return game. Carolina’s secondary is in need of some help, particularly after the loss of CB Captain Munnerlyn to the Vikings.
