Panthers interim head coach Perry Fewell told reporters that he will interview for the full-time job after the season, per Joe Person.
Carolina just interviewed former Packers HC Mike McCarthy this past Sunday and the expectation is that owner David Tepper will cast a wide net before settling on the team’s next head coach.
Fewell, 57, began his NFL coaching career with the Jaguars as their defensive backs coach back in 1998. He has worked for a number of teams including the Rams, Bears, Bills, and Giants before he was hired by the Redskins as their defensive backs coach a few years ago.
Unfortunately, Washington fired Fewell along with defensive coordinator Joe Barry in 2017. The Jaguars hired him as their secondaries coach back in January of last year but the organization elected to part ways with him along with three other positions coaches.
The Panthers hired him as their secondary coach in January of last year and promoted him to their interim-head coach role after they fired Ron Rivera earlier this month.
