The Carolina Panthers announced on Tuesday that they have placed RB Jonathan Stewart on the PUP list.
Stewart, 26, will now miss at least the first six games of the regular season. He recently got a second opinion on his troublesome ankles, which apparently wasn’t positive.
The Panthers signed Stewart to a six-year deal worth $37.8 million, which included $22.5 million guaranteed last year, so it’s at least somewhat concerning that he is already missing time.
DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert figure to handle the ground game with Stewart sidelined to begin the year.
