The Carolina Panthers announced Friday that they’ve placed rookie DE Daeshon Hall (knee) placed on injured reserve and promoted S Dezmen Southward to their active roster.
Southward, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Falcons back in 2014. He lasted just over a year in Atlanta before he was cut and was later signed by the Colts to their practice squad.
The Colts broughtย Southward back in a future’s deal the following years but he was waived with an injuryย settlement during the first week of the 2015 regular season. He later finished out the year on the Panthers’ practice squad and returned to Carolina on a future/reserve contract.
Southward was later signed to the Panthers’ practice squad after he was waived coming out of the preseason.
In 2015, Southward appeared in three games and recorded one tackle for the Falcons.
