Panthers Release DE Wes Horton, Claim DE Lavar Edwards

David Newton of ESPN reports that the Panthers are releasing DE Wes Horton on Sunday.

This comes after the news that they claimed DE Lavar Edwards off of waivers from the Bills.

Horton, 25, signed on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out USC back in 2013. He was in the final year of his three-year, $1.485 million rookie contract when the Panthers cut him loose last year.

However, Carolina later re-signed him to a contract a week into October. Horton was reinstated after being suspended four games, but Carolina elected to waive him from their exempt list before later adding him to their practice squad.

He later re-signed with the Panthers on a one-year deal.

In 2015, Horton appeared in eight games and recorded seven tackles and a sack for the Panthers.
