The Carolina Panthers announced that they’ve signed CBย Brandon Boykin to a one-year contract on Monday following his visit to the team.
- Tom Pelissero reports that Boykin receives a one-year contract worth $840,000 from the Panthers and an $80,000 signing bonus.
Recent reports said that Boykin had interest from four teams before meeting with the Panthers today. However, it appears as though Carolina was able to get a deal done and prevent him from considering other options.
Boykin, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. He was traded to the Steelers last year for a 2016 fifth round pick after Pittsburghย sustained some injuries at cornerback.
In 2015, Boykin was active forย all 16 games and recorded 25 tackles, one sack, an interception, a forced fumble and five pass defenses.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 38 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
We had him featuredย in ourย Best Available Free Agents list.
