Panthers Signed LS Danny Aiken

According to David Newton of ESPN, the Panthers have signed LS Danny Aiken to a one-year contract.

Newton notes that Aiken was added as an insurance policy in-case starting LS J.J. Jansen is unable to play in Thursday night’s Week 12 game.

Aiken, 27, spent his first four seasons with the Patriots, but was not re-signed to the team after playing out his contract in 2014. The Panthers hosted Aiken for a workout back in Week 4, so there is a level of familiarity with the team.

He originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills out of Virginia back in 2011, but didn’t last long as he waived and later claimed by the Patriots that year.

He was a regular contributor on special teams since his arrival in New England, but is getting his first shot with a team since then.
