Panthers WR Keith Kirkwood Suffers Broken Clavicle, Out Several Weeks

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Panthers WR Keith Kirkwood suffered a broken clavicle going up for a pass and he’ll undergo surgery to repair the issue.

The expectation is that Kirkwood will miss several weeks following the procedure, so he’s a candidate to open the season on injured reserve.

Earlier in the day, the Panthers signed WRs Tommylee Lewis and Marken Michel

Kirkwood, 25, originally signed on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Temple back in 2018 but was released after a few days and was added by the Saints. He was among New Orleans’ final roster cuts coming out of the preseason before re-signing to their practice squad.

New Orleans promoted Kirkwood to their active roster in 2018. Unfortunately, he was placed on injured reserve last year with a hamstring injury before being designated to return.

The Panthers signed Kirkwood to a contract this past March after the Saints declined to tender Kirkwood a restricted contract.

In 2018, Kirkwood appeared in eight games for the Saints and caught 13 passes for 209 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
