The New England Patriots have designated rookie TE Devin Asiasi to return from injured reserve on Wednesday, according to Mike Reiss.
This opens a three-week window of time for the Patriots to activate him from injured reserve and add him to their 53-man roster.
Asiasi, 22, was a one-year starter at UCLA and an honorable mention All-PAC 12 selection. The Patriots used the No. 91 overall pick in the third round on him.
Asiasi signed a four-year, $4,272,857 contract that includes a $892,962 signing bonus.
During his college career at Michigan and UCLA, Asiasi caught 52 passes for 789 yards receiving and six touchdowns over the course of three seasons and 18 games.
