Update:
Ian Rapoport reports that Nick Folk was able to go through his work out on Friday and is now expected to sign with the Patriots and kick on Sunday.
Patriots HC Bill Belichick would not confirm the signing of K Nick Folk on Friday.
Ian Rapoport explains that the question is whether Folk is healthy enough following his appendectomy to play and Belichick’s comments could imply that he’s not.
According to Rapoport, Folk is going to kick today to see how he feels and if everything checks out, he’ll likely sign with the Patriots. Otherwise, they likely will wait another week for him to return.
It’s Friday and the Patriots are still without a kicker on their roster. However, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that New England is expected to bring back veteran K Nick Folk, who was released last week after undergoing an appendectomy.
Rapoport says Folk should be healthy now and ready to return to game action.
New England signed Kai Forbath to fill in for Folk last week, but he was released soon after.
Folk, 35, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2007. He spent over two years in Dallas before he signed on with the Jets in 2010 as a free agent.
Folk was entering the final year of his four-year, $12 million contract that included $2.1 million guaranteed when the Jets released him. He spent last year with the Buccaneers before signing on with the Patriots a few weeks ago.
The Patriots released Folk last week.
In 2019, Folk has appeared in three games for the Patriots and converted 7 of 9 field goal attempts (77.8 percent) to go along with all three extra point tries.
