Patriots Place RB Dion Lewis On PUP List

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Patriots have placed RB Dion Lewis on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday.

This move will cost him the first six weeks of the 2016 season.

Lewis unfortunately required a second surgery on his knee following an ACL tear he suffered last year, so this move shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Lewis, 25, signed a three-year, $3.1 million contract that included a $600,000 signing bonus with the Patriots just a month ago after getting out to an impressive start to the 2015 season. He stands to make a base salary of $800,000 in 2016 and another $1.2 million in 2017.

In 2015, Lewis appeared in six games and ran for 220 yards on 45 carries (4.9 YPC) to go along with 349 yards receiving and four total touchdowns.
