Patriots Re-Signing STs Captain Matthew Slater To Two-Year Deal

Mike Reiss reports that the Patriots are re-signing special teams captain Matthew Slater to a two-year deal on Tuesday.

Slater visited with the Steelers last weekend, but it looks like the Patriots managed to get a deal done to ensure he’ll be back in New England for the next two years.

Slater, 32, is a former fifth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2008. He’s played all 10 seasons of his NFL career with the Patriots and is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection.

Slater was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2017, Slater appeared in nine games for the Patriots and recorded a forced fumble and two recoveries for New England.
