The New England Patriots announced Friday that they’ve officially released K Nick Folk and signed K Kai Forbath to their active roster.
Folk recently underwent an appendectomy that was considered minimally invasive.
Folk, 35, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2007. He spent over two years in Dallas before he signed on with the Jets in 2010 as a free agent.
Folk was entering the final year of his four-year, $12 million contract that included $2.1 million guaranteed when the Jets released him. He spent last year with the Buccaneers before signing on with the Patriots a few weeks ago.
In 2019, Folk has appeared in three games for the Patriots and converted 7 of 9 field goal attempts (77.8 percent) to go along with all three extra point tries.
Forbath, 32, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of back in 2011. Forbath had brief stints with the Buccaneers, Redskins, Saints and Vikings before signing on with the Jaguars last December.
Jacksonville released Forbath back in February.
In 2018, Forbath appeared in three games for the Jaguars and converted 4 of 5 field goal attempts (80 percent) to go along with all three extra point attempts.
