Doug Kyed of NESN reports that the Patriots have signed former Jets LBย Trevor Reilly to their practice squad on Thursday.
- Mike Reiss adds that WRย Shaq Evans appears to be the player waived to make room for Reilly on the team’s practice squad.
The Patriotsโ practice squad now consists of:
- RB Bishop Sankey
- G Chris Barker
- WR Devin Lucien
- Sย Vinnie Sunseri
- WR DeAndrew White
- G Chase Farris
- LBย Trevor Reilly
- RB Tyler Gaffney
- FB Glenn Gronkowski
- G Jamil Douglas
Reilly was one of two players who tried out for New England on Wednesday, so he was clearly on their radar.
Evans, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Jets back in 2014.ย However, he unfortunately missed his rookie season due to a shoulder injuryย and was later waived at the start of last year.
The Jaguars signed him to their practice squad a few weeks into the 2015 season and brought him back on a future/reserve contract this past January. Unfortunately, Evans was among the Jaguars roster cuts coming out of the preseason but later signed on to theirย practice squad.
Jacksonville cut him loose a few weeks later.
Evans has yet to appear in an NFL game.
Reilly, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the Jets back in 2014. He spent just over two years in New York before he was waived with an injury designation coming out of the preseason.ย The Jets cut Reilly loose a few days later.
In 2015, Reilly appeared in 15 games for the Jets and recorded 17 tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles.
