Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Patriots have agreed to terms with TE Troy Niklas on a one-year contract Wednesday.
The Patriots recently brought Niklas in for a visit along with WR Jordan Matthews and it looks like the meeting went well enough for them to extend him an offer.
Niklas, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $4,023,298 contract and made a base salary of $968,631 for the 2017 season.
Niklas was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his NFL career.
In 2017, Niklas appeared in 15 games for the Cardinals and caught 11 passes for 132 yards receiving and one touchdown.
