According to Aaron Wilson, the Patriots brought in four free agents for tryouts on Thursday including veteran WR Ryan Grant.
The full list of workouts for the Patriots includes:
- WR Ryan Grant
- TE Gabe Holmes
- TE Ben Koyack
- TE Eric Tomlinson
Grant, 28, is a former fifth-round pick by the Redskins out of Tulane in 2014. He signed a four-year, $2,433,612 rookie contract and tested the open market for the first time in his NFL career last year.
Grant failed a physical for the Ravens last year after agreeing to a four-year, $29 million deal. Afterward, he took visits with the Raiders and Colts before signing in Indianapolis on a one-year, $5 million deal.
The Raiders signed Grant to a one-year deal worth up to $2.5 million this past April, but was just recently released.
In 2019, Grant has appeared in two games for the Raiders and caught four passes for 14 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
Tomlinson, 27, originally signed on with the Eagles in 2015 as an undrafted free agent out of UTEP. He was unfortunately among their final roster cuts, but later signed a future/reserve deal with the Texans.
Houston waived Tomlinson at the start of the 2016 regular season and he was later signed off of their practice squad by the Jets before eventually being added to their active roster.
New York declined to tender Tomlinson a restricted offer this offseason and he later had a brief stint with the Jets before signing on with the Giants soon after. He was just recently waived by the Giants.
In 2019, Tomlinson has appeared in three games for the Giants, but has yet to catch a pass.
