According to Mark Daniels, the Patriots are waiving fifth-round K Justin Rohrwasser.
Despite being the first kicker selected in this past April’s draft, Rohrwasser struggled during camp and lost the starting job to veteran K Nick Folk.
However, Daniels says New England intends to sign Rohrwasser to the practice squad.
Rohrwasser, 23, was drafted by the Patriots in the fifth round out of Marshall this past April. He signed a four-year deal worth a projected $3.6 million.
In two years at Marshall, Rohrwasser made 33-42 field goal attempts (78.6 percent) and 79-82 extra points attempts.
