Peyton Hillis Requesting A Trade Out Of Cleveland?

Tony Grossi of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer writes that Peyton Hillis could request a trade before the Week 6 deadline of October 18th.

Grossi points to the fact that contract negotiations between the Browns and Hillis are “not going well,” which could make a trade request the “next step” in the process. Grossi also adds that the team feels that Montario Hardesty has a higher ceiling that Hillis does.

As of now the Browns are in need of as many offensive weapons as possible so I seriously doubt that they would shopping Hillis in the coming weeks even if he requests a trade. Mike Holmgren and company have made it clear that they’re not going to give him the kind of money that he feels he deserves so you can expect to hear a lot about Hillis being disgruntled throughout the remainder of the season.

The Browns could always end up using their franchise tag on him following the 2011 so we’ll have to see how this plays out.
