Raiders Activate DE Jihad Ward & TE Cooper Helfet From PUP List

The Oakland Raiders officially activated DE Jihad Ward and TE Cooper Helfet from PUP list on Monday.

Ward, 23, is a former second-round pick of the Raiders back in 2016. He’s currently in the second of his four-year, $5.539 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $701,809 and $953,618 over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2016, Ward appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and recorded 30 tackles, no sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass defense.

Helfet, 28, wound up signing on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Duke back in 2012. Since then, he’s been on and off of the team’s active roster.

Seattle re-signed him to a one-year, exclusive rights contract. However, he was waived and later reverted to their injured reserve list after clearing waivers.

The Seahawks later decided to waive Helfet back in August of last year and he signed on with the Raiders a few months later.

In 2015, Helfet appeared in 14 games for the Seahawks and recorded 13 receptions for 130 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
