Raiders Backfield Update

Oakland Raiders RB Michael Bush all but cemented himself as the team No. 1 running back this preseason but an injury to his to his thumb will likely leave him on the bench for the teams upcoming game against the Titans and possible more.

The Raiders were reluctant to mention that Bush fractured his thumb against the 49ers but Bush tweeted that he had suffered a “Bennett fracture” during the game. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Michael Schwartz mentioned that such an injury would require four to six weeks of recovery time, per Jerry McDonald.

This will no doubt keep Bush out of Sunday’s game and should apply some added pressure to the Raiders offense. While Bush is out, Darren McFadden will be looked at to anchor the teams ground game. McFadden has dealt with his own durability problems in his first couple years in the league so the team could be in a world of trouble if he goes down with an injury this weekend.
