Raiders Claim TE Paul Butler, Re-Sign Three ERFAs

The Raiders also re-signed three exclusive rights free agents on Thursday including K Daniel Carlson, DB Dallin Leavitt and DB D.J. Killings and claimed TE Paul Butler off of waivers from the Lions.

Butler, 26, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of California (PA) back in 2018. He was waived coming out of the preseason and later re-signed to the Raiders’ practice squad.

The Raiders eventually promoted Butler to their active roster in December. However, he was waived with an injury designation and later reverted to the team’s injured reserve list. The Lions signed Butler to a futures contract this past December before waiving him on Wednesday.

During the preseason, Butler caught four passes for 24 yards and no touchdowns for the Raiders.

Carlson, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Vikings back in 2018. He’s was in the first year of his four-year, $2,708,012 contract when the Vikings waived him a few months in to the regular season.

The Raiders later signed Carlson to a contract and he finished out the year in Oakland.

In 2018, Carlson appeared in 12 games for the Vikings and Raiders and converted 17 of 21 field goal attempts (81 percent) to go along with all 24 extra point tries.
