Raiders QB Derek Carr Suffers Groin Injury

Raiders QB Derek Carr suffered a groin injury during the first quarter of Thursday’s game against the Chargers.

Las Vegas says he’s questionable to return to the game, but he appeared to be in serious pain.

Carr was scrambling out to the right when he suffered the injury. He was immediately taken to the locker for further evaluation.

Marcus Mariota has replaced Carr at quarterback.

Carr, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Raiders back in 2014. He was in the final year of his contract when the Raiders signed him to a five-year, $125 million extension that included $70 million guaranteed in 2017.

Carr stands to make base salaries of $18.9 million and $19.52 million over the next two years of the agreement.

Entering tonight’s game, Carr had appeared in 13 games for the Raiders and completed 68.2 percent of his passes for 3,343 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He had also rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns.
