Raiders Sign LB Vontaze Burfict To One-Year, $2M Deal

The Oakland Raiders announced Tuesday that they’ve signed former Bengals LB Vontaze Burfict to a one-year contract for the 2019 season.

  • According to Adam Schefter, Burfict receives a one-year contract worth $2 million and $300,000 guaranteed.

There’s an obvious tie to the Raiders in that Burfict played for DC Paul Guenther while they were together in Cincinnati.

It’s worth mentioning that signing Burfict to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Burfict, 28, wound up signing on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State back in 2012. He was in the final year of his four-year, $20 million contract when the Bengals signed him to a three-year $38.68M extension last year.

Burfict was set to make base salaries of $5 million (2019), and $6.18 million (2020) over the remainder of the contract when the Bengals cut him on Monday.

In 2018, Burfict appeared in seven games for the Bengals and recorded 33 tackles, no sacks and three pass defenses.
