According to Rams GM Les Snead, the potential re-signing of DT Ndamukong Suh is “pretty much guaranteed to be off the table.”
“Based on the fact that from our budgetary constraints this year, it probably doesn’t fit in his desires,” Snead said via ESPN’s Lindsey Thiry.
So far this year there has been little buzz about a possible destination for Suh, but he’s likely to command a salary that’s well beyond what the Rams can afford at this point.
As of Monday morning, the Rams had $4.5 million in cap space.
Suh, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Lions back in 2010. He spent five years in Detroit before signing a six-year, $114 million contract that included $60 million guaranteed with the Dolphins a few years ago.
The Dolphins designated Suh as a post-June 1 release last year and he would go on to sign a one-year, $14 million contract with the Rams. He’s once again testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.
In 2018, Suh appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and recorded 59 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 interior defender out of 112 qualifying players.
