Rams S Eric Weddle announced on his Twitter account he successfully underwent knee surgery, the first surgery he’s had in his NFL career.

Ian Rapoport reports Weddle had his meniscus trimmed and is expecting to be fully recovered in a few weeks. Weddle said at the end of the year he anticipated needing shoulder surgery as well.
Weddle also tells Mike Garafolo he hasn’t made a decision yet on if he will play in 2020, saying his first goal is getting healthy this offseason.
He’s entering the second year of a two-year, $10.5 million deal he signed with the Rams last offseason, but Weddle anticipates the Rams will move on in favor of younger players in 2020.
Weddle, 35, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2007. He played nine seasons for the Chargers before signing a four-year, $26 million contract that included $13 million guaranteed with the Ravens for the 2016 season.
Weddle was entering the final year of his contract and set to make a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2019 season when the Ravens released him. He signed a two-year deal with the Rams.
In 2019, Weddle appeared in 16 games and recorded 108 tackles, no interceptions and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 42 safety out of 89qualifying players.
