Rams To Promote QBs Coach Frank Cignetti To Offensive Coordinator

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Rams are expected to promote QBs coach Frank Cignetti to offensive coordinator.

According to Rapoport, an announcement from the team could come at some point in the next week.

The Rams have taken a long time to find their next offensive coordinator after Brian Schottenheimer somewhat surprising departed for the offensive coordinator job at the University of Georgia.

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch previously mentioned that the Rams were likely to promote from within and suggested Cignetti and tight ends coach Rob Boras as the top-two candidates for the job.

Fisher has promoted from within in the past, so this isn’t exactly a new approach for him.

Former Bills OC Nathaniel Hackett pulled out of the running for Rams vacancy and took a job with the Jaguars. St. Louis also had interest in Colts assistant Rob Chudzinski, but he elected to re-sign with Indianapolis.

We’ll have more updates as the news is available.
