Rams RB Steven Jackson mentioned, while appearing on Pro Football Talkย Live today, that he and the team have discussed a contract extension that would keep him in St. Louis for the remainder of his NFL career.
“We’ve had some contact about making sure I retire as a Ram,” said Jackson. “I think somewhere in the future, myself and the Rams will get something worked out. To make sure I can retire as a Ram.”
As of now, Jackson will not be a free agent until the 2014 season and there’s been some speculation that the Rams may look to trade him, but that doesn’t appear to be the case any longer. Isiah Pead figures to cut into Jackson’s workload, but that’s probably a good thing considering the mileage that he has.
