Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Ravens are aggressively trying to sign free agent OLย Kelechi Osemele to a long-term extension.
According to Rapoport, the Ravens have already offered him a contract that would make him the second highest paid offensive player on their roster behind only QB Joe Flacco.
Some have wondered with the Ravens’ cap situation and after they already invested big money inย Marshal Yandaย whether they’ll be able to retainย Osemele.
It’s going to take a huge contract to keepย Osemele in Baltimore, given that he’s in line to be one of the best offensive lineman in this year’s free agent class.
Osemele, 26, was taken in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Ravens. He has one year remaining on hisย four-year, $3.34 millionย rookieย contractย and stands to make a base salary ofย $846,255 for the 2015 season.
This season,ย Osemele has appeared in all sixย games for the Ravens and isย rated byย Pro Football Focus as the No. 18ย offensive tackleย out of 77ย qualifying players.
We haveย him featuredย in ourย Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
