Update:
ESPNย is reporting that the Broncos will bring in free agent defensive endsย Dwight Freeney and John Abraham for visits this week.
Freeney is scheduled to meet with the team today, while Abraham will not be making his visit until Thursday.
- Mike Klisย reports that DEย Elvis Dumervil was “underwhelmed” with the Broncos’ recent three-year offer.
- Klis adds thatย Dumervil is currently in the process of planning visits to other interested teams.
It’s not surprising that the Broncos new offer was less thanย Dumervil was hoping for. The market for defensive ends has been terrible to say the least and there are other cost-efficientย options available to them, such as Freeney and Abraham.
The Ravens and Dolphins have been mentioned as potential landing for Dumervil, but neither is expected to offer him good money at this point in free agency.

Jason La Canfora ofย CBSSports.com reports that the Ravens have alreadyย “expressed interest” in free agent DE Dwight Freeney.
La Canfora mentions that Baltimore is still in the market for pass-rusher, but only at the “right price.” League sources have informed him that Elvis Dumervil remains the Ravens’ “top target.”
There are a few issues with this idea. First, Dumervil has said that he would prefer to re-sign with the Broncos, who reportedly already have a new offer out to him. Second, Freeney struggled in his first year as a 3-4 outside linebacker, so it’s really not the best fit for his skill set. The Ravens could always make some adjustments to better utilize him, but it just doesn’t seem like the best fit.
Freeney has been mentioned as a speculative option for the Broncos and Patriots as well.
We have Freeneyย listed as the No. 7 best available player in our recently updatedย Top 50 Free Agentsย list.
