Ravens Have Started Negotiations With G Ben Grubbs

Ravens head coach Jim Harbaugh mentioned that they plan on “really make a run” at retaining G Ben Grubbs who will be a free agent in the coming weeks.

“We’ve offered –- I don’t know if we’ve offered it yet –- but we’re in negotiations of offering a lot of money,” said Harbaugh, via CBS Baltimore.

This is pretty interesting for a number of reasons. First, the Ravens have been reported to the be working on a new contract with QB Joe Flacco and they also appear to be set on franchising RB Ray Rice. Second, Baltimore locked G Marshal Yanda last season to a pretty large contract so allocating even more money to their interior offensive line seems like a risky move when they have an obvious need at offensive tackle.

Grubbs has been a great player for the Ravens and will draw plenty of interest if Baltimore isn’t able to lock him up before March 13th.
