Citing sources with knowledge of the situation, Jason La Canfora reports that Ravens veteran OLB Terrell Suggs “fully plans to continue playing next season” and is primed to test the free agent market for the first time in his NFL career.
According to La Canfora, a return to the Ravens is “hardly be out of the question” but it would be surprising if he didn’t at least test the free agent market first.
Last year, Suggs admitted that he was preparing himself for the possibilityย that he may not finish out his career in Baltimore.
โI would really love to be in one place my whole career. Not many players can sayย they did that,โ Suggs said, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com. โBut I also understand this is a business and that might not happen. Iโm pretty much making my peace with it now. Iโm preparing myself for it just in case. What will be, will be.โ
Suggs, 36, is a former first-round pick of the Ravens back in 2003. He’s currently in the final year of his five-year, $28.5 million contract that included $16 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2018 season.
In 2018, Suggs has appeared in 10 games for the Ravens and recorded 23 tackles, 5.5 sacks, a forced fumble and four pass defenses.
We’ll have more regarding Suggs and his future with the Ravens as the news is available.
